Anne E. Figert, Ph.D.

Department:  Sociology
Dr. Figert is chair of the Sociology department and her research interests include health, medicine, sociology of science, and gender. Much of Professor Figert's research and writing has been published in books and journals relating to medicalization, the framing of women's health issues, scientific authority, and teaching sociology. She has also been actively involved in community based research with HIV/AIDS organizations.
