John T. Slania, M.S.

John Slania is a veteran Chicago journalist who brings real-life newsroom instruction to the classroom. He was a reporter and editor at the Daily Herald, Milwaukee Journal and Chicago Tribune. With a dual degree in Communication and English from Loyola University Chicago, he also earned a Master of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. At Loyola, he teaches courses in journalism, public speaking, and communication and technology. He also serves as an advisor for the student yearbook, The Loyolan, and Diminuendo, the student literary magazine. Slania continues to practice journalism, and is a regular contributor to Crain's Chicago Business and Satisfaction magazine. He also writes a blog on careers and money, which can be viewed at www.satisfactionmag.com.
