Dr. Wheeler leads a computational biology lab at Loyola whose broad goal is to better understand how genetic variation leads to phenotypic variation of complex traits including disease susceptibility and drug response. She develops systems approaches to complex trait prediction by building computational models that leverage and integrate similarity in genetic (DNA), transcriptomic (RNA) and/or other omics-level data (i.e. proteome, methylome, etc.).
