SXCK is now 152 years old. It aims to form men and women for others. Its motto is "Nihil Ultra (Nothing Beyond). It offers 16 UG courses, 6 PG, 7 certificate and 3 diploma courses under five faculties - Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration and Education. SXCK was upgraded to an autonomous status in 2006. It was declared a College with Potential for excellence in May 2006. It was accredited by NAAC in 2011 with A grade with a score of 3.53 out of 4.
The list of Alumni include many poets like Tagore, scientists like J.C. Bose, Industrialist like LN Mittal, Sanjiv Goenka and Indian leaders like Jothi Basu and SS.Ray.
St. Xavier's has always been known for its cosmopolitan and national charactor.
