Description Initially founded in 1882 by the first Archibishop of Montevideo, Mariano Soler and then in 1985 reopened and entrusted to the Jesuit Order. From its inception the Universidad Católica del Uruguay imposed on itself the challenge of being a better option in Higher Education. Installed in Montevideo and with campuses in the cities of Salto and Punta del Este, the Universidad Católica del Uruguay is the first private university in the country and the most widespread geographically.
