Founded in 1917, the Pontifical Oriental Institute is a graduate school and research center specializing in the study of the traditions of the Christian East.
The Institute offers the licentiate and doctorate in Oriental Ecclesiastical Sciences (theology, patristics, liturgy, Church history, spirituality) and in Oriental Canon Law. All instruction is in Italian. A wide range of language courses (both ancient and modern) is available.
The Institute's library is outstanding in the field of the Christian East. The collection includes thousands of periodicals and attracts scholars from all over the world.
