How can colorblindness--the idea that race does exist, be racist?

This illuminating talk introduces the paradox of colorblind racism: how dismissing or downplaying the realities of race and racism can perpetuate inequality and violence. Meghan Burke reveals colorblind racism to be an insidious presence in many areas of institutional and everyday life in the United States and ways that it can be challenged.

Dr. Meghan Burke received her MA (2005) and PhD in Sociology (2009) from Loyola University Chicago. She is currently Associate Professor of Sociology and Chair of the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at Illinois Wesleyan University
