Title: Math outreach in underperforming schools.
Abstract: Mary Charles and Diane Schiller will each discuss their involvement in two excellent examples of mathematics outreach programs. Respectively, these are: Target New Transitions (TNT), a ``near-peer guidance* program that trains and recruits talented college student tutors, and pairs them with freshmen in various underperforming Chicago high schools; and Algebra Boot Camp (ABC), which works with 6-8 students from/in under-resourced elementary and middle schools.
