Quinlan Graduate Business Association 2015-2016 Candidacy Submissions is Now Open!
Submissions for the Graduate Business Association are now due on Sunday April 29th. Submit a paragraph about yourself and a picture to quinlangrad@gmail.com if you are interested in running. Tell us which office you wish to run for and why.
Being part of a student organization will add value to your time at Quinlan and give you a chance to help add value to others. We look forward to receiving your application.
The following shall be the powers and duties of each office:
President* Provide leadership and vision for direction of the QGBA.
* Preside at all meetings (both Board and Open Meetings)
* Set agenda and dates of all meetings.
* Participate as an unofficial member of all QGBA committees, meeting with committees when necessary.
* Delegate responsibilities to subordinate officers when needed.
* Ensure the QGBA's registration is current and valid with the Student Activity Office.
* Call special meetings.
* Appoint Committees.
* Act as a liaison between the QGBA, QGBA Advisor, and University Faculty and Staff.
* Assist the Vice-President of Finance in developing an annual budget and other monetary issues.
Executive Vice-President
* Act as second-in-command for all QGBA activities.
* Report directly to the President.
* Provide guidance and supervision to Vice-Presidents and Secretary by participating as an ex-officio member of all QGBA committees.
* Assist in preparations for all QGBA meetings.
* Oversee all elections in conjunction with the QGBA Advisor.
Vice-President of Marketing
* To coordinate all marketing-related efforts to heighten awareness of QGBA within the QGBA community.
* Generate excitement about QGBA sponsored events.
* Partner with all other QGBA committees to guarantee efficiency of communication about proposed and subsequently planned events.
* Maintain working relationship with the Executive Secretary to frequently update website with relevant event details/information.
* Approve, and create if necessary, copy for emails, website, fliers, etc; guide the distribution of these materials.
* Seek feedback from relevant stakeholders to learn about audience response to marketing efforts; implement changes consistently as directed through feedback.
* Verification and disbursement of the QGBA email newsletter.
* Publicize open meetings and events to all current students, faculty, and administration through the QGBA Announcements, QGBA email and website.
* Assist the President and Vice-President of Finance in developing and adjusting an annual budget and other monetary issues relevant to marketing and events costs.
* Work cohesively with the VP of Events to organize and execute internal and external events.
Vice-President of Events
* Coordinate all internal and external events that will positively impact the sense of belonging for each QGBA student.
* Network with appropriate Chicago venues and organizations.
* Partner with the Vice-President of Finance to ensure budget constraints are not exceeded.
* Submit appropriate marketing requests to the Vice-President of Marketing for publicity of events; follow-up as needed.
* Create relationships with other Chicago area organizations (other Chicago Graduate Schools of Business, professional associations, etc.).
* Meet with the Faculty Advisor to approve all sponsored events.
* Maintain updated calendar of future events.
* Ensure each event is photographed and pictures are given to the Vice-President of Marketing for future QGBA materials.
* Actively communicate with the VP of Marketing
Vice-President of Finance
* Account for and maintain legible (digital) records of all financial transactions occurring during term of office.
* Provide a comprehensive budget of all relevant and financial information.
* Facilitate any necessary collections and reimbursements for QGBA events, QGBA Officers, and students, if needed.
* Submit proposals for the use of QGBA funds to the Faculty Advisor for approval.
* The President and the Vice-President of Finance will work closely on all matters of cash inflows and outflows.
* Represent the values of Loyola through legitimate and ethical accounting practices.
* Provide updates on the financial standing to QGBA Officers
Executive Secretary
* Maintenance and improvements to the QGBA website.
* Keep minutes of all QGBA meetings and maintain records.
* Distribute meeting minutes to all Board members.
* Assume responsibility for all QGBA correspondence.
* Responsible for checking email accounts on a consistent basis, and disseminating correspondence requests from students to the appropriate QGBA officer.
Vice-President of Community Service
* Coordination and planning of service events for the Loyola QGBA (volunteer events, fund raising, etc¿).
* Represent the QGBA in outreach to the greater Chicago area service community.
* Maintains contacts with Chicago area community service organizations.
* Submit appropriate marketing requests to the Vice-President of Marketing for publicity of events; follow-up as needed.
* Coordinate with the Faculty Advisor to involve the QGBA in University sponsored community service events.
* Work cohesively with the VP of Marketing and VP of Events to organize and execute internal and external community service events.
