This presentation/discussion introduces a prototype for an honors seminar or a more broadly inclusive course for experiential learning whereby students and faculty collaborate to design and administer a site-study course which applies theory and models; the course also requires field study to determine best practices to enhance the well-being of citizen stakeholders. Such a course could potentially focus on any place, building on student interests and faculty expertise and research networks. In our case, six business students and Professor Cliff Shultz visited and studied Colombia and the extent to which foreign direct investment and the development of the tourism sector can be a catalyst for sustainable peace and prosperity in that country and elsewhere. Prof. Shultz and some student participants will describe the genesis of the course, pedagogy and learning processes, challenges, deliverables, outcomes, reflections, transformations and opportunities going forward.
