These dances examine the role of classical art in contemporary society. From the flamenco-inspired trio from August Bournonville's La Ventana to Isadora Duncan's passionate protest against the suffering of war, historical works provide a context for current works. The iconoclast Andy Warhol revered classical forms and then moved beyond them in much the same was as our new works manipulate timeless forms today. This concert reflects on our cultural evolution as works springing from the seeds of the past create the present.
