A Special Program Sponsored by the Loyola University Museum of Art and Loyola University Chicago's School of Education

*Engaging Young Children in Project Work in the Art Studio with Pedagogy Inspired by the Schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy*

    A Lecture by Irene Sufrin
Principal - Ginsburg Solomon Schechter Early Childhood Center

Discussion Afterwards Facilitated by Dr. Adam Kennedy
Assistant Professor, Early Childhood Special Education
Loyola University Chicago School of Education

Ms. Sufrin, whose students mounted an exciting exhibit in LUMA's Push Pin Gallery last Winter, will describe the project and the underlying educational philosophy that led to the LUMA exhibit.

The project, influenced by the educational philosophy of the schools in Reggio Emilia, Itay, engaged young children in drawing, painting and collage experiences to demonstrate their understanding of the human face.

Ms. Sufrin will include images from the exhibition, Exploring Faces with Young Children, at LUMA and photos of the children at work in the studio.
