This exhibition features 22 compelling portraits of survivors of human trafficking. All have become inspirational leaders within their own professional fields like Savannah Sanders, a woman dedicated to anti-trafficking training as a coordinator for the SAFE Action Project at the Sandra Day O¿Connor Institute. The exhibition was conceived and organized by GEMS (Girls Educational and Mentoring Service). It celebrates the leadership of survivors in their communities, their families, and in their own lives, and presents their images and words as a powerful antidote to the stereotype of trafficked victims as perpetually broken and forever limited by their trauma. A series of talks with Loyola University Chicago faculty and Chicago activists will accompany the exhibit.
