In June 2015, the US Department of Defense issued a new law of war manual. This is the first comprehensive US government publication on the topic in decades. As an authoritative statement of international law issued by the agency controlling the world¿s most powerful military, the manual may significantly impact US civilian policy-makers, military leaders, and their lawyers, as well as US courts, national leaders, and militaries around the world.

Please join us as practitioners, scholars, and legal experts familiar with the manual, debate and discuss the manual¿s strengths, weaknesses, and potential effects within and the US military and beyond. Lunch will be provided.
This program has been approved by the Illinois MCLE Board for 5.25 hours of credit.
