Using Evidence-Based Programs to Secure Sustainable Violence Reduction in Chicago

Violence among Chicago's youth has become a topic of national focus and commentary. Our February 8 Coffee Talk will focus on one local organization committed to using evidence-based approaches to reduce youth violence. Our presenter will be Dr. Toni Irving, Executive Director of Get IN Chicago, a $50 million dollar private-public partnership that focuses on youth who are most acutely at risk of being impacted by the violence taking place in some Chicago neighborhoods. Dr. Irving will share the organization's strategy for violence reduction, reflect on lessons learned as GIC's work has evolved, and suggest a model based on efforts to date.

All students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend. Coffee, tea and cookies are served.
