This week's Coffee Talk will feature Allison Lowe-Fotos, a Policy Specialist at the Ounce of Prevention Fund, who will discuss the Ounce of Prevention's work to eliminate early childhood suspensions and expulsions and legislation that was recently introduced in Illinois that would prohibit expulsions in early childhood programs that receive state funding.

The Ounce of Prevention Fund provides support for innovative, evidence-based programs aimed at improving the early childhood experiences of children in Illinois and across the nation. Ms. Lowe-Fotos helps to develop policies and programs that help prevent the academic achievement gap and the social problems it can create, including school dropout rates, teenage pregnancy, juvenile crime and chronic health conditions.

Coffee Talk is held most Wednesdays from 4 to 4:50 p.m. in the ChildLaw Center- 11th floor of the Corboy Law Center. Coffee, tea and cookies are served. All students, faculty and staff are welcome.
