A wide variety of drugs, from street drugs to prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as alcohol, are used for *drug-facilitated sexual assault* (DFSA). Key effects and features of these substances make DFSA cases extremely difficult to detect and prosecute. This case-based presentation will discuss basic concepts of DFSA, clinical and toxicological data and research, and successful prosecutions of DFSA cases involving gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and its analogs, benzodiazepines, alcohol, and other drugs. Dr. Deborah Zvosec currently works with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where she conducts and coordinates research projects on GHB/analogs, DFSA, and other clinical topics.
