    Harvey. Irma. Maria. Nate. This year, during a forty-five day period, eight consecutive named storms strengthened into hurricanes. You know the rest. Harvey devastated Houston; Irma left the Florida Keys in shambles; Maria knocked out power and water to Puerto Rico. Climate change has disrupted other countries and now we are seeing the impacts on our own shores. When powerful hurricanes hit the United States it upsets our economy, disrupts our food systems, limits our access to clean water and puts stress on our public health infrastructure.

    That¿s why this year¿s climate change conference will focus on climate change as a key driver for public health issues in the 21st century.  Our Keynote Speaker, Former EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy knows ¿we have to protect public health if we want to have economic vibrancy,¿ and understands firsthand how environmental degradation can affect people¿s well-being.
