A FREE event, open to the public (registration required).

Join Ecological experts as they lead teams into the wetlands of LUREC to find and document the biodiverse organisms throughout the area!
    What is a BioBlitz?
It's an effort to find as many species as possible in a given area over a 24-hour period. Scientists gather together to lead teams who search for a specific set of organisms.
    Why is this happening?
With the sighting of the endangered Rusty Patched Bumble Bee at LUREC, we want to ensure LUREC's ecosystem is carefully documented, and the biodiverse area is properly maintained to ensure the growth of native species.
    What are the goals?
    The BioBlitz serves two purposes:
    1. It documents the biodiversity of a site.
    2. It introduces the public to the biodiversity in their area while demonstrating the importance of maintaining natural areas.
