On April 7, 2018, Loyola University Chicago (LUC) will host its third annual Black Lives Matter Conference (BLMC). The mission of BLMC is to raise consciousness, empower ourselves, promote healing and form solidarity. Through this year's theme, Black Lives Matter: Black Art and the Power of Healing, we hope to create a space for exploring Black art, its aesthetics, practices and histories. Black Art and the Power of Healing strives to showcase the embodied knowledge of healing and resistance for Black people worldwide.
This conference is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, activists, organizers and community members to create, reflect and extend the longevity of the Black Lives Matter movement.
