Black Men for Success (BMS) is an inter-generational mentorship group that cultivates academic achievement and personal excellence amongst African American males at Arrupe College of Loyola of Chicago. Grounded by the complex, intersectional and unique cultural history, values, and experiences of African American men, BMS members deepen their investment in college success and professional engagement through academic coaching, scholarship, and community-building.

The 2018-19 events organized by Black Men for Success emphasized personal excellence. Gatherings included a discussion of life goals and deterrents on the road to success, real talk about the importance of maintaining a high GPA, and Burgers and Basketball, a lively event that pitted mentors against mentees in a game of b-ball.

Arrupe is looking for BMS mentors for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Be a male of color willing to mentor a black male student for the Fall 2019-2020 school year

Set up weekly one-on-one meetings with assigned mentee(s)
