  Loyola University Chicago's Departments of English and Theatre host The McElroy Shakespeare Celebration, an annual event founded in 1992, to memorialize the late Professor Bernie McElroy. Melding literary study and theatrical interpretation of William Shakespeare's dramatic works, the event includes an address by a visiting speaker and scenes performed by local actors and Loyola students.
