150th Anniversary Scholar Series: Prostitutes, Prophets, and Priests: Women Power from the Book of Revelation to the Many Marys
    Edmondo Lupieri, LLC, Lic

A preliminary/introductory contribution to a large interdisciplinary and international project on ¿Women with Authority in Christian History.¿ One of the aims of the project is to understand how a priestly role for women would be conceivable in the Catholic world, and if this role could be supported by the analysis of the pluri-secular traditions regarding New Testament figures, like Mary Magdalene and other women. This specific contribution involves the exploration of (both historical and/or fictional) female Christian figures in contexts of power/leadership/authority, privileging the investigation of their functions of a priestly/presbyteral or equivalent nature, from the I to the X century, inside and outside orthodox Christianity.
