Technology and Social Justice Series: Researchers and their Research

Technical innovations, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI) and social media, are known to introduce biases into the applications that replicate and amplify the prejudices and biases that are already present in our society.

Our panel will discuss how developers and researchers can create systems that remove bias from their AI solutions and can add safeguards to social media applications during this virtual event. Our panelists will include:

Alexandra M. Franco, Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law
Kai Shu, Gladwin Development Chair Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Illinois Tech
George K. Thiruvathukal, Professor of Computer Science and Director of CS Department Computing at Loyola University Chicago; Visiting Faculty at Argonne National Laboratory
