As part of our efforts to showcase the excellent scholarly activity ongoing at Loyola University Chicago, we recently launched the Research Scholars Seminar Series.
We are pleased to share, and invite you to the next presentation to be given by Dr. Rocco Gogliotti, entitled, ¿Drug Discovery for Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Putting the Patient First¿. The presentation will be held via webinar, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.

The success rate of compounds entering clinical trials for neurological disorders has fallen sharply in recent years. Dr. Gogliotti's lab has chosen to address this problem by coupling advancements in next-generation sequencing technologies with human autopsy samples to facilitate target identification. This bedside-to-bench approach emphasizes establishing translational relevance early in study design, with the mission of replacing the more shots on goal approach to therapeutic development with one that emphasizes *better shots on goal*. Dr. Gogliotti will share his group's research that led to the identification of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, heat shock proteins, and regulatory microRNAs as potential therapeutic targets for the neurodevelopmental disorder Rett syndrome is, how this project mitigates health disparities, and health equity research design.
