Lunch with LUMA: (Faculty Only/RSV Required). Hands to Work and Hearts to God¿ Shaker Art and Spirituality.

Presented by Loyola University Museum of Art¿s Director of Cultural Affairs, Pam Ambrose. The Luncheon is in conjunction with an upcoming exhibition at LUMA: *Gather Up the Fragments: The Andrews Shaker Collection and As It Is in Heaven: The Legacy of Shaker Faith and Design.*

This dual exhibition will present an overview of the history of the United Society of Believers for Christ¿s Second Appearing, more commonly known as the Shakers. The exhibitions explore the uniqueness of Shaker design and industry, and the religious tenants that underlay life in Shaker villages¿particularly the philosophy of ¿hands to work and hearts to God.¿ It will demonstrate how the Shakers¿ built environment reflected their desire to promote piety, prosperity, and a communal identity.

The event is from 11:30am -12:45pm in Cuneo Hall, Room 410, LSC.
