Student Debt in the Aftermath of Biden v. Nebraska
Please join Loyola University Chicago School of Law's Consumer Law Review for its annual symposium on March 22, 2024. On June 30, 2022, the Supreme Court ruled the Secretary of Education did not have authority under the Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Student Act of 2003 to establish a student loan forgiveness program that would cancel roughly $430 billion in debt principal and affect nearly all borrowers. This year's symposium will focus on this decision striking down President Biden's student debt forgiveness plan and the impact it will have on borrowers across the country.
