    In Memory of Kristallnacht
Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Vél' d'Hiv Round-Up in Paris
During this infamous action that occurred under Nazi German occupation, French police arrested some 13,000 Jews in Paris on July 16-17, 1942. Many were brutally incarcerated in the Velodrome d'Hiver (Vel d'Hiver) Stadium in Paris. They were then sent to French transfer camps and finally deported to Auschwitz Extermination Center and Concentration Camp.
Please join us for an opportunity to learn from Mrs. Marion Deichmann. Mrs. Deichmann is a child survivor of the Vél' d'Hiv Round-Up, when her mother was arrested and deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered. Courageous and caring French citizens rescued Mrs. Deichmann. They have been recognized as 'Righteous Among the Nations.' Now, nearly 90 years old, Mrs. Deichmann has written a memoir in memory of her mother, Her Name Shall Remain Unforgotten.
This annual program marks the 84th anniversary of 'Kristallnacht,' the 'Night of Broken Glass,' when on November 9-10, 1938, anti-Jewish lethal violence, orchestrated by the Nazi German government, raged throughout Germany, Austria and the Sudetenland. This resulted in the destruction of hundreds of synagogues, the incarceration of 30,000 Jewish males and tragic loss of life. 'Kristallnacht' illustrated the murderous potential of Nazi Germany.
