*CNT's Community Oriented Approach to Urban Flooding*

Peter Haas, Chief Research Scientist, Center for Neighborhood Technology

Peter Haas will talk about the Center for Neighborhood Technology¿s projects with regards to urban flooding. First a short introduction to the concept of urban flooding, with a review of a study CNT published looking at inequities in insurance claim data in Chicago in the early/mid 20-teens. He will then spend some time demonstrating some of the tools CNT has developed to enable people to find the value in using nature base solutions, or green storm water infrastructure, for flood mitigations. Also, there will be time to look at work now beginning in south Cook County based on plans CNT in collaboration with 6 communities did in the mid/late 20-teens.

CURL Friday Morning Seminars are held regularly on Friday mornings during the academic semester from 10:30am until 12:00pm. Loyola faculty, students, staff, community members, and guests are welcome.
