Webinar Series: Immigration Law and the Child Migrant - Advancing Due Process Part I: ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT & JUDICIAL DECISION MAKING

Immigration judges are called upon to make life-altering decisions for children, adolescents and young adults in their courtroom. In other legal systems, judges have access to professional education resources and training that enable the courts to make developmentally-appropriate and informed judicial decisions. This webinar series offers training on the social and medical science of childhood as well as the application of this science within the immigration law paradigm. The series will provide immigration judges with primers on adolescent development and child trauma and will explore the implication of that scientific research on decision-making in the immigration court. The series will bring together subject matter experts together with immigration judges to explore the application of cutting-edge research in immigration matters and to maximize opportunities for positive outcomes, within an immigration framework.
